Christmas Newsletter 2011

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we settle into our busiest but most enjoyable time of the year, I am very pleased to outline matters for your interest and attention with dates for your diaries.

School Photographs

Please note that the last day for ordering is Friday 18th November.  Any orders after this date will be subject to a surcharge.

Harvest Assembly

Many thanks to Mr Clem Raymond for contributing to our Harvest assembly.  We are grateful to our choral group for their singing and to Year 6 volunteers for their readings, poems and prayers.

Borough in Bloom

Our thanks and congratulations to our gardeners who contributed greatly last spring and summer terms to our lovely gardens at Cilffriw.  We are very pleased to receive, once again, second prize and a £25 cheque.  Ardderchog Pawb!

Gift Shoeboxes

We are so grateful for your response once again this year.  So many of you give freely to provide super presents for these families who  have almost nothing.  Your generosity makes such a difference.  Diolch yn Fawr!

Children in Need -  Friday 18th November

Again, we plan to celebrate simply with children invited to bring in their Pudsey bears or favourite toy, dress up in something spotty instead of uniforms, bring their bedroom slippers or wear a funny hat/hairstyle.

We will collect 50p from anyone who wishes to take part.  Also, we will send a bucket around for any loose change you wish to donate to Children in Need.

Christmas Fair - Tuesday 29th November, beginning at 3.30.

Many thanks already to everyone who has promised to help.  We have lots of activities planned and would be very grateful for your donations of raffle prizes, toys, games, books, etc.  All details from Mrs Barnes and Mr Quin.

Grand Christmas Raffle

We intend to begin our raffle in the Fair and extend over the Christmas period.  The draw will take place on Monday 19th December at 2.30 p.m.

Aberdulais Falls - National Trust Event - Friday 2nd  December at 6.30

Our choral group will join with other schools for this very special occasion.  I am told that this is going to be a more informal outdoor event this year, with hot drinks, mince pies and opportunity for shopping later.  Please come along and wrap up really warmly – Christmas begins here!  Everyone is welcome.

Outdoor Christmas Tree

Over the next few weeks we will be decorating the lovely fir tree - which has grown so big - on the Infant bank.  Please help us by bringing in food for the birds, ribbons, etc.
