Autumn 2008
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we settle into the new school term, I have pleasure in reporting that our pupils are adjusting happily to their new teachers and everyday routines.
School Crossing Patrol
Unfortunately, I have to inform you that we will not have a school crossing patrol from 26th September to 3rd October. Please will you ensure that your children are supervised safely to and from school. If anyone is able to offer temporary cover please let me know.
Parent Teacher Partnership
We are grateful to you all for your partnership in ensuring that your children attend regularly and promptly every morning and are always in school uniform.
We respectfully request that all children:
Parent Teacher Discussions
May I remind you that teachers are available after school from 3.30 - 5.00 on the first Monday of each month if you would like to discuss any aspect of your child's wellbeing or progress.
Weekly Swimming Programme
We are grateful to those of you who are able to come along to help, particularly with the younger classes.
School Bookfair
The Autumn book selection will be here for anyone wishing to buy. Please do not feel obligated to however, as we will be selecting books for class libraries so every child will benefit.
Autumn Disco / Bookfair evening / Fancy Dress optional - Tuesday 14th October
Admission for children will be £1.00. Adults free of charge. Everyone is welcome to dress up as a storybook character if they wish to do so.
Nursery/Infant 6.00 - 7.00
Juniors 7.00 - 8.00
Please will you remember that nursery/infant children must be accompanied by an adult.
School Photographs
This year Finesse Photography will be in school on two mornings - Thursday and Friday, 16th and 17th October. We will send the timetable to you shortly. This will include a slot for little ones, not yet in school.
School fruit Shop / Bottled Water
Every child in school is invited to enjoy a fruit snack during morning break. In the younger classes staff organise this with the children. From Year 2 children are encouraged to choose and buy for themselves. Prices are around 30p.
Breakfast Club from 8.00 a.m. daily
A healthy breakfast and informal activities are available to children every morning. We have qualified staff supervising and the service is free to everyone.
After School Care - 3.20 p.m. - 4.20 p.m.
Our qualified support staff organise after school clubs everyday, Monday to Thursday. This excellent facility is available from Reception class and cost £1 per day, which includes a fruit snack and drink.
Regular Dinner Money Payments
May I remind you that payment for school lunches should be paid on Mondays in advance of children having meals. Please put the money in an envelope with the child's name clearly marked on it. If your child has dinners one or two days a week, the dinner money should still be paid in advance on the Monday. If your child is sick credit is carried forward to the next week for you.
Parking / School Crossing Patrol
May I again appeal to everyone to park with the utmost care and well away from the school. Mr Tay is currently organising a committee of Traffic Officers for a junior Road Safety Club. You will be hearing from them soon!
Calendar Winners
Congratulations to the children in Year 3 and Jack in Year 2 whose artwork has been chosen for the Gwalia/Redrow calendar for 2009. We will display these as soon as copies are received.
Borough in Bloom
I am pleased to report that Cilffriw has gained third place in the School Gardens Category, despite the dreadful summer weather.
