Margam Park Residential Course

Over the past few years Year 5 have had the opportunity to stay for 4 nights at Margam Park Educational Centre. They have been accompanied by 3 members of staff from the school, who stay throughout the week, day and night. At present (2008) all facilities are situated in the castle, however a new educational centre is being built within the Park and should be ready by next year. Sleeping arrangements are in dormitories on the upper two floors, the second floor used for the boys and the first for the girls, each floor is equipped with good shower and toilet facilities, as well as a separate room for the staff. The ground floor is used for teaching and leisure activities and meals are served in the Park's cafe.

The main theme for the week is sustainability and this is split into four topics - dependency; impact; diversity; time and change. Each day has sessions inside and outside, whatever the weather (waterproof jackets and trousers are provided by the centre), with the Park staff delivering the programme. Below are links to photographs taken in May 2007 and a short diary account of the week.
